The second week is always a nice week. There is a lot happening.
Rosie takes her rest. She loves to lay down besides the whelping box. Often she goes back in to clean and feed the puppies. She is very caring and has enough milk for the little ones. They don't have a reason to complain. Of course Rosie gets a high quality food so she feels well and she can provide enough milk for the puppies. The puppies gain weight. They already past the first kilo. All puppies, except the black and gold, wear a small collar. The dogs have following colours: blue, green, brown and black. The girls have the colours: pink, red and purple.
The puppies already give it a try to walk. Always funny to see. Our black and gold, the biggest one, already tried and even managed to get out of the whelping box. At the end of this week the eyes had opened. They start to get aware when something is happening. I also gave them some little toys. So they will not only meet there brothers and sisters.
You can see the pigmentation better and better. The paws, nose and lips are getting darker.
2 weeks is also the moment to deworm for the first time. We always do it with a paste. Most puppies don't like it, but they all swallowed it. It is just another week of rest and then Rosie and the puppies will receive visitors.
