WE HAD A LOT OF PHONECALLS FOR QUEKKIE TO GIVE HER A NEW HOME. WE ASSUME SHE WILL SOON HAVE HER FOREVER HOME. THANK YOU
Unfortunately, Quekkie van de Romerweide, a black and gold bitch born on 20 April 2022, (has not been spayed) is looking for a new home.
Here is her owner's description.
After a lot of thinking, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to start looking for a new home for our beloved Hovawart bitch Enya. A place where she can find peace again and feels happy again.
Since the birth of our first child (about 1.5 years ago), we have noticed that Enya no longer feels as comfortable with us as she used to. Due to our changed family situation, she is clearly stressed, and this stress is now also having a noticeable effect on her health. We have done a number of things to make the situation more bearable for her, but we have to admit that it will soon become even more stressful for her. As we are expecting our second child. It looks like we are increasingly unable to provide her with what she needs. That is why we have made the difficult decision to find a new home for Enya.
Enya is a very calm and modest bitch who simply needs a relaxed and peaceful environment. She is a little activer outdoors and a little more excited at first, but that disappears after a few minutes. If you guide her well, she is a great companion, even during trips to the city.
Enya has attended puppy classes from an early age and we went to a a dog training school later. She has also done mantrailing. She therefore walks well on a leash, knows all the basic commands and is very well trained. Walks in the woods , she definitely enjoys, even without a leash, as she has no hunting instinct and is also good at coming when called. Enya travels well in the car, even on longer journeys. Being left alone for longer periods of time is also no problem for Enya. She often reacts somewhat uncertain to strangers. But once she gets to know them better, that uncertainty quickly disappears.
Despite training, she still tries to “gain the upper hand” in some encounters with other dogs. But if you give her the necessary confidence in these situations, she can now handle them with confidence. Enya feels most comfortable as the only dog and has no need for other dogs in her environment.
Enya tends to produce more earwax, which means regular ear care is important for her. For this reason, we had her tested for a possible food allergy. The test showed that she can have an allergic reaction to certain ingredients. This allergic reaction mainly manifests itself in the form of more earwax.
That is why Enya has been receiving easily digestible food that does not contain any of the problematic ingredients for over a year and a half. This food is not a diet food, but simply a well-chosen variety of a commercial dogfood that she tolerates very well. We are able to manage this effectively, and she no longer has any complaints. It is not a significant limitation – one must simply ensure that she does not consume too much of the substances to which she may react.
We wish for her a home where she can be the only four-legged companion – a quiet household, perhaps with older people or in a family without children, where she can be herself again.
Enya lives in Germany
